The story of Pancho’s starts in 1956, when the Berger family of Memphis, TN, took a once-in-a-lifetime vacation to Mexico. The family returned home inspired to deliver the bold flavors and adventurous spirit of Mexico to the rest of the world — and Pancho’s Mexican Restaurant was born.
According to local legend, Pancho’s created the very first queso dip – a rich, creamy, real-cheese recipe with just the right kick. It didn’t just taste great; it transformed how people enjoyed Mexican food in the US. One dip in, and customers were hooked. As word spread and demand grew, the Berger family did the only natural thing: they packed up their signature dip so people could take it along on their own adventures.
Though the restaurants eventually closed in the late 2010s, the spirit that sparked Pancho’s never faded. Today, Pancho’s cheese dip is still made with real cheese and crafted for bold flavor – just like the Berger family intended.
